Home Inspector Licensing in New Jersey
Initially home inspector licensing in New Jersey had a few false starts. Since December 30, 2005 New Jersey has required home inspectors inspecting one to four family dwelling units for a fee, that have been occupied, to be licensed as per NJAC 13:40-15
It has come to our attention many home buyers, home sellers, attorneys and even some Realtors are not aware home inspectors in New Jersey are required to be licensed.
Licensed home inspectors must abide by New Jersey Standards or be subject to disciplinary action and are required to take 40 hours of continuing education during each biannual license renewal period.
